We consciously chose a backpack lining made from recycled PET bottles. The backpack inner material needs about 60% of the total material surface of a backpack. The outer shell just about 40%. Accordingly, it was obvious to us in product development to focus the use of these materials on the interior of the bag. Thus, we place the topic of sustainable production materials on the proportionately largest material consumer, the interior.
Process flow of the recovery of the raw PET material
Used PET bottles are collected and transported to factories that have been specially installed to sort PET bottles, bottle caps, remove labels and clean bottles. After shredding the PET bottles, the flakes are cleaned and separated from non-PET plastics with help of laser scanners.
What remains is a pure PET raw material which in our case is further processed into a fiber.
