The vargu production ensures that people are adequately compensated for the work that they do.
A 'fair deal' includes paying workers a fair price to the goods they produce - a price that covers the cost of production, and guarantees a living income. It also involves a program that can provide lasting stability - such as long-term contracts for profits that the producer can bank on, and trainings, that can help increase sales, production, education, product quality and company growth. Our production is concerned with economic opportunity as well as economic justice.

Goals:

* providing a living wage
* maintaining stable, long-term trade agreements
* improving working conditions through education and creating access to outside markets
* working with used and recycle materials wherever possible

Criteria:

  1. We pay a fair wage, in the context, to the artisan that crafted the product.
  2. We provide employment without discrimination, and strive to create employment opportunities for women and the most disadvantaged communities.
  3. We insure that all artisans have access to a safe and clean work environment.
  4. We guarantee that no child labour is used in production.
  5. We increase economic stability by paying 50% up front to underwrite materials and production costs.
  6. We follow environmentally sustainable production practices whenever possible: we select all kinds of used and recycled materials and recycle materials ourselves as well.
  7. We reinvest a portion of profit to support a 50 kids slum-school in New Delhi.
